Old Town mill Grand Reopening

ND Paper celebrated a new beginning in Old Town on Aug. 13 during a Grand Reopening celebration at the Old Town Mill, with distinguished guests, employees, vendor partners and elected leaders at the Old Town mill.

ND Paper officially welcomed the Old Town Division to its family of four U.S. paper mills during the celebration, which included remarks from Nine Dragons Chairlady Yan Cheung, ND Paper CEO Ken Liu, and Chungfang Gu, commercial counselor of the Consulate General of China in New York.

Old Town mill employees Michelle Fisher, logistics supervisor/ coordinator, and Kyle Boucher, pulp mill maintenance supervisor, also shared their experiences and insights into the mill reopening.

The event, held in the Old Town mill’s finished good warehouse, drew several hundred people to mark the next chapter for the mill, which previous owners had shut down in 2015. ND Paper crews produced its Old Town’s first bales of unbleached softwood pulp just after 4 a.m. on July 31.

A big “thank you” to our hardworking Rumford and Old Town mill employees, who powered the restart. We’d also like to thank our special guests, U.S. Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Angus King (Ind.-Maine), Congressman Jared Golden (D-2nd) and Old Town City Manager Bill Mayo. We were thrilled to hear how our investment in Old Town has already had positive ripple effects for the community and the entire state of Maine.

We look forward to 100 years of growth!
