Ken Liu is based in the U.S. and leads daily operations. Prior to his position as CEO of ND Paper, Ken served as Vice Chairman at America Chung Nam (ACN), Nine Dragons’ sister company and primary supplier. For 15 years, ACN has been America’s largest exporter by container volume and recycles millions of tons of recycled paper every year. As Vice Chairman at America Chung Nam, Ken oversaw corporate development, market strategy and general management. He was previously a consultant at PwC where he advised leading technology, telecom and banking companies. Ken holds an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from Columbia Business School and graduated cum laude when he earned his Artium Baccalaureus (Bachelor of Arts) in government from Harvard University.

Michael LaVerdiere is our Executive Vice President of Chief Operating Officer, leading our Mill Operations, Operational Excellence, EHS and Capital Investment teams. Mike joined ND Paper in August 2020 after a 27-year career with International Paper and Verso Corporation where he served in a variety of leadership roles including Androscoggin Mill Operations Manager, Quinnesec Mill Manager, Vice President of Operations, and Vice President – Center of Excellence and Technology. Mike holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maine.

James Armstrong test is our Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer. James is responsible for the following corporate functions: IT, HR, Finance/Accounting/Audit, Supply Chain/Logistics/Customer Service, Sales/Marketing, Procurement, Legal, Project Management Office & ND Packaging. James has over 20 years of logistics experience, handling port, rail, air, intermodal and international freight. Notably, James worked with a company that has previously been featured on “Ice Road Truckers” and was even posted in Thailand while working for Maersk.

Karen Li is our Chief Financial Officer. Karen came to ND Paper from our sister company, where she advanced through the ranks taking on additional responsibilities in her roles as Accounting Manager, Management Controller, Financial Controller and, most recently, Global Financial Controller. Karen is a certified CPA, and her experience and leadership skills are a great asset to the Finance team at ND Paper.

With more than 30 years in the paper business, Matt is an expert in the pulp & paper industry and leads our Sales & Marketing team. Matt leverages his insight and paper industry experience to continually position ND Paper for growth in an evolving market. Matt has held sales leadership positions with several leading paper companies during his career, and most recently served as Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing with Catalyst Paper prior to joining ND Paper. Matt joined the paper industry following a five-year service obligation with the U.S. Naval Service. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the U.S. Naval Academy.

Bob has more than two decades years of human resource experience, over half of which has been in the paper industry. Bob most recently served as Director of Human Resources-Operations for Green Bay Packaging. His experience has been focused on environmental, health and safety, talent acquisition, talent management, human capital planning, performance management and aligning human resources as a strategic business partner with the business. Bob holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology Management – Safety from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and has studied Labor Relations at Cornell University.

Matt brings over 27 years of experience in the paper industry with Champion International, International Paper and Verso Corporation. He was most recently the Senior Vice President of Manufacturing and Energy for Verso. Prior roles have included Vice President, Center of Excellence and Technology, Mill Manager at the Sartell, Bucksport, and Escanaba mills and Director of Manufacturing Support. In addition to leading our continuous improvements as ND Paper expands into the containerboard market, Matt leads our Operational Excellence team. He is based in our Chicago office.

Tim is a tried and tested executive and change agent with over seventeen years of progressive operational and managerial experience in both industry and management consulting. From PricewaterhouseCoopers to Hewlett Packard and Deloitte Consulting, Tim has held significant leadership roles in a number of top-tier companies. At ND Paper, Tim is responsible for advancing core transformations of our business processes, driving efficiencies and improvements in every area of our work, with a special attention on logistics. Tim's expertise and knowledge are helping us become a world-class organization on all fronts.

Sherry Anderson brings more than 30 years of leadership and IT experience to her role as CIO and VP of Information Systems and Technology. In her tenure in the manufacturing industry , she’s supported organizations and driven excellence through people, process, and systems. She recognizes the importance of technology and what it can bring through innovation, standards, and security. More recently, she has led many strategic projects to advance and secure ND Paper’s technical landscape.

Chaodan Zheng

Chaodan Zheng is Vice President of Procurement at ND Paper. Prior to her position with ND Paper, Chaodan was a member of Morgan Stanley’s Equity Research Division, where she covered equities spanning the life insurance industry to gaming and lodging. Chaodan graduated with her Artium Baccalaureus (Bachelor of Arts), cum laude, in government, with a Secondary in East Asian Studies and Citation in Chinese from Harvard University.

Brian is a corporate generalist specializing in complex transactions, litigation, employment, regulatory compliance and commercial law. He joined ND Paper after serving nearly a decade as Assistant General Counsel for ThyssenKrupp, where he served as a key advisor to the executive team. Brian holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Studies from Northwestern University, and he earned his Juris Doctor from Chicago – Kent College of Law, earning a certificate in International and Comparative Law.

General Manager – Fairmont Division
Steve brings more than 30 years of manufacturing experience, including 20 years of paper mill experience, to the ND team. He most recently served as Production Manager of the Resolute Forest Products mill in Fairmont, W. Va. Steve offers extensive experience in logistics, warehousing, wastepaper fiber procurement, mill production, budgeting and coaching production teams. Employee safety, minimizing the mill’s impact on the environment, quality control, staff and community relations, production, and containing mill costs drives Steve’s daily activity. Steve earned both his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering Technology and his Associate’s Degree in Manufacturing Technology from Fairmont State University. He holds certificates in Lean 6 Sigma – Green Belt, Critical Accountability, Toyota Way, and Operation Excellence Training and Implementation.

Bruce Hogan

Vice President and General Manager – Old Town Division
Bruce is a 33-year veteran of the paper and pulp industry. He has a wealth of operational and management experience beginning with his first job as a process engineer with International Paper and spanning to his advancing roles with Mohawk, Essity, and most recently at Appvion’s mill in Roaring Springs, Pennsylvania where he served as Operations Manager. However, Bruce’s heart has always been in Maine. A native of Auburn and a graduate of the University of Maine, he holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. When he’s not leading the Old Town Division, Bruce enjoys golf, woodworking, target shooting and spending time with his family.

Vice President and General Manager – Biron Division
Caleb joined ND Paper in October 2020 as Operations Manager at our Biron Division and made an immediate positive impact on our business. In July 2021, Caleb was promoted to VP & General Manager of the Biron Division. Caleb has 20 years of papermaking experience and brings exceptional passion to pass the knowledge and his leadership on to those under his reporting umbrella. Caleb holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from University of Wisconsin Stevens Point with a major in Paper Science and a minor in Chemistry. Caleb’s career started with International Papers as Process Engineer and moved on as Paper Machine Room Process Manager and Paper Machine Coordinator. Caleb then moved on in his career to Verso Paper and held positions at their Sartell mill, Jay mill, Center of Excellence, Luke, mill and ended with the Wisconsin Rapids mill prior to joining ND Paper. When Caleb is not leading the Biron Division, his passion is his family and spending time at their cabin.

Shannon Dwyer

Vice President and General Manager – Rumford Division
Shannon Dwyer was born and raised in Maine. After receiving his Marine Engineering degree from Maine Maritime Academy, Shannon served six years in the Merchant Marine. He finally came ashore though, and landed at the Rumford Mill. Since 2000, he's held several critical positions from project engineer to engineering manager and from Director of Utilities to, most recently, Director of Capital and Reliability, where he led the engineering group responsible for optimizing and advancing all of ND Paper's operations. He was promoted to lead our company's largest mill in October 2021.
