30 Mar ND Paper statement on COVID-19 pandemic
With life disrupted globally by the COVID-19 pandemic, our thoughts are with all those suffering from the impacts of this highly contagious virus. We are committed to doing all we can to protect the health and safety of our employees, customers, suppliers, and communities at-large through the duration of this outbreak.
In the last week, the governors in Maine, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Ohio – the states in which ND Paper operates mills and support offices – issued orders that close “non-essential” businesses, as well as require or encourage residents to remain home to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.
These orders allow businesses to continue operating if deemed “essential;” this determination is performed by individual states, with further guidance provided by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). Every state in which ND Paper operates has classified paper and pulp manufacturing, along with their associated supply chains, as essential businesses. Therefore, our day-to-day functions are continuing.
ND Paper manufactures a variety of products vitally important in the global supply chain to convey information, package and protect valuable goods on their way to market, and serve as a raw material in the manufacture of other value-added products. Our plants are powered by essential skilled workers who are committed to ensuring the manufacturing supply chain in America remains as stable as possible during this unprecedented time. To protect their health and safety , ND Paper has developed and implemented a comprehensive action plan, closely following Centers of Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, across all of our locations. Our approach includes extra cleaning and disinfecting, along with personal protective measures such as increased handwashing, physical separation of employees to the greatest extent possible, temperature screening, and enhanced personal protective equipment for team members in public-facing roles.
We deeply appreciate our team members who, along with essential employees in other sectors, ensure we maintain the critical flow of vital goods to end users. ND Paper will remain alert to all developments related to this pandemic to protect our people and products in the safest possible manner, and in full compliance with applicable laws.
