The Senior SQL Database Administrator will work under the direction of the Director of Enterprise Systems. This is a full-time salaried position. The hours of the position will be 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. This role can be based either at our Oakbrook Terrace, IL location or Dayton, OH location.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Schema design, index design and tuning
  • Deadlock resolution, trigger and stored procedure development
  • Database administration as well as reporting solutions
  • Setup and administer high availability, redundancy, security and performance monitoring of all relational databases in production and non-production environments
  • Monitor and respond to all issues to ensure success of all scheduled jobs
  • Execute database related activities for changes to all database objects primarily in OLTP designs, Performance Tuning (SQL query, stored procedures & DB engine)
  • Assist development teams in creating database procedures and triggers
  • Identify production performance issues, blocking and deadlocks and long running queries
  • Aid with client problem escalation where applicable
  • Participate in monthly release process
  • Effectively communicate and document designs, processes and work
  • Develop, document and institute best practices
  • Provide internal support for customers and business partners in a 24/7 environment and be on a rotational call support

Required Experience:

  • A passion to work with Microsoft and SQL Server technologies
  • S. in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years’ experience working with SQL Server technologies
  • Strong knowledge of OLTP and OLAP environments, design, modeling, performance considerations and SQL internals
  • Experience with older SQL versions as well as SQL Server 2012 or higher
  • Experience utilizing XML and Window functions within SQL
  • Experience with SSIS and SSRS
  • Experience with Oracle a plus
  • Knowledge using a variety of methods to identify and resolve database related performance issues or errors
  • Experience with encryption and security (in flight, at rest, and column level)
  • Exposure to network, infrastructure and virtualization technologies as it relates to the successful configuration and run of databases in production and non-production environments
  • Team Foundation Server (TFS) and GitHub a plus
  • Exposure to SQL Server Service Broker
  • Exposure to Microsoft technologies (ASP, NET, C#, etc.)
  • Development concepts a plus
  • Demonstrated creative thinking and problem solving capabilities
  • Strong Logical organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor
