We are are looking to hire top talent to join our dynamic team! ND Paper offers full benefits and a competitive compensation. We are currently seeking an experienced Corporate Benefits Manager. This position reports to Vice President of Human Resources and is a self-directed position working with minimal supervision. This position provides benefits leadership and supports the development of benefit programs for ND Paper. Principal accountabilities include cost effective research, planning, design, communication, implementation and maintenance of all benefit initiatives. This role will have one direct report that includes the Compensation and Benefits Analyst.

The incumbent will deal with highly sensitive and delicate situations, making sure all information is kept confidential.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manages the implementation, administration and operation of the ND Paper employee benefit plans, to include, but not limited to health and welfare, retirement (401k and pension plans) tuition programs, and all other fringe benefit plans and programs
  • Provides technical and operational guidance focusing on compliance with plan documents and laws (federal, state and city), process improvements and documentation
  • Assure company compliance with provisions of Employee Retirement Income Security Act and the Affordable Care Act. Supervise preparation of reports and applications required by law to be filled with federal and state agencies, such as Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, insurance commissioners, and other regulatory agencies
  • Achieves financial objectives by preparing the benefits budgets, monitoring accruals, analyzing variances, initiating corrective actions
  • Assist with training and development of the Compensation and Benefits Analyst
  • Works with various internal and external stakeholders, such as brokers, ND Paper communities (e.g., Retirement Investment Committee), vendors, government agencies and cross-functional teams regarding benefit-related initiatives
  • Manage configuration and data set up of the UltiPro benefits system, along with troubleshooting the processing of retrieval of employee benefit data
  • Actively participates in the design and testing of new systems and/or enhancements to existing systems, automated processes and reporting tools. Defines testing scenarios and participates in unit and system testing to ensure proper functioning of benefit systems
  • Supports the selection of and manages benefit vendors, consultants, brokers, trustees and legal assistance
  • Coordinates review of vendor contracts and plan documents for all benefit plans and services
  • Reconciles benefits accounts by approving billing statements
  • Coordinates requirements and the development of benefit reports and communications
  •  Ability to work with and helping employees at various levels within the organization
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Experience Required:

  • 5+ years of benefits management experience
  • Prior experience designing and managing health and welfare plans, retirement plans, STD, LTD, workers’ compensation, flexible spending accounts, and health savings accounts
  • Strong knowledge of benefits compliance
  • Proven project management skills
  • Experience with data analysis and interpretation
  • Effective verbal & written communication skills
  • High degree of professionalism, sound judgement and discretion
  • Ability to work in team focused and collaborative environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Travel will be required
